“I recently completed Lindsay’s courses, and as someone with a background in Forensic Biology and Biomedicine, who has only recently transitioned into the field of Phycology, I found the coursework to be exceptionally well-organised and informative. The material strikes an ideal balance, providing comprehensive content without overwhelming the learner, resulting in a thorough understanding of the course objectives. Whether you’re looking to acquire new knowledge or deepen your existing expertise, these courses are highly recommended. Thank you, Lindsay!”

Ethos

Quality is our passion and is at the heart of everything we do. We employ a practical, systems approach to ensure our clients expectations are exceeded, and to promote continuous quality improvement. We apply this approach to all of our services and work to find practical, simple, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective solutions. As principal consultants, we choose to work with like-minded colleagues and consultancies that are technical experts in their field to bring together technical expertise tailored for every job.

Our training is designed to reflect best laboratory practice in an ISO 17025 environment, and follows a practical, how-to approach for quality assurance and operational systems optimisation. We aim to make our training engaging and applicable, providing a level of post training support second to none that ensures it stays relevant and fresh.

Culture

Our people are our greatest asset and they invest a great deal of themselves in their work. So, we invest in our people. We recognise that each team member has unique talents and skillsets, and we encourage them to be developed. We employ our team not just on the role we require but based on transferrable skills they possess, where a person’s passions lie, and where they might take us if given an opportunity.

We insist on work-life balance. We believe two things: we work to live, and family should always come first. We actively engage in flexible work practices to help our team with family responsibilities and support further education. We proudly support emergency service volunteers and armed forces reserves.

Most of all, we are more than a place of work. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people from cultures, abilities, backgrounds, and experiences into our organisation. We seek to learn from our team and to continually instil and maintain a culture of inclusivity and acceptance. But, more than that, JHC is a community and supports each other to achieve our individual goals which supports company sustainability and growth, and makes us an employer of choice.

By looking after our people, they become invested in our company and their work. By doing so, they provide outstanding customer service, and build lasting relationships with our clients.

Aspirations

Education for all is one of our missions. As our company grows, we hope to provide intern and cadetships to indigenous students and disadvantaged youth to provide a path into STEM and allied careers. For these young people, we want to promote and encourage completion of a secondary education, the importance of life-long learning and personal growth by providing mentorship, and supported learning opportunities.

We are producing digital training materials for this challenging science, to enhance and improve the skillset of phycologists world-wide. It will provide a readily accessible, economical, and convenient delivery of high-quality training, designed specifically at those performing routine analysis, or those that need to identify field samples.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which my business stands. We pay our respects to the people of the Jagera, Yuggera, and Ugarapul nation, and to their elders; past, present, and emerging. We recognise and respect their belonging to Country, their connection to this land, their communities, and their culture. We are grateful to live and work in this place.
